Plan Adopted!

On Monday, April 20, the Rapid City Council unanimously voted to adopt Plan Rapid City, the City's updated Comprehensive Plan. This was a tremendous effort and could not have been completed without the dedication and support from the many community members, business owners, and City leaders who stuck with us during this yearlong process. This truly is a community plan, and we encourage you to keep up with the status of its implementation via the Quarterly Progress Reports from the Mayor's Office.

Many thanks to all those who have participated in the various community events and commented on the draft Comprehensive Plan! We are in the final stage of the planning process and hope you will come support the Plan through the adoption process.

The planning team has been busy turning your feedback into a a draft Future Land Use Map  and Plan and Policy Framework.  We'll be discussing these documents at the Thought Leaders and Seniors' Update events on November 5 and 6, so please check the events calendar for all meeting times and locations.  If you can't make it to one of the events, weigh-in online by completing the Plan & Policy Framework and Future Land Use Survey.  Thanks for your continued interest and participation in Plan Rapid City!

Come share your vision for the community at one of the Plan Rapid City events in September.  Community-wide events will be held on Tuesday, September 24 and Wednesday, September 25 and we'll also be meeting with other specific groups and organizations.  Check out the events calendar for all meeting times and locations.  If you can't attend one of the events in person, please complete the online community preferences survey.

Review the Community Profile to understand the key trends, issues, and opportunities facing Rapid City before we begin planning for the future.  Check out the inventory maps to see how the different land uses and infrastructure systems shape our community.  Refer back to these documents throughout the Plan Rapid City process to refresh your memory about what has been accomplished already and what we need to be focusing on in the future.
